Meet Info 6/1/23

Hello Dolphin Families,

We will be hosting the Manta Rays at the JM Tull YMCA2985 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville for the upcoming Meet on:

Thursday, June 1, 2023.

Below is a list of information you will need for this Meet:

Parking:

All parking will be done in the overflow parking area (picture attached) of the YMCA. There will be signs directing traffic. You may drop your equipment & swimmers at the entrance to the pool which is to the LEFT of the Main Entrance, but drivers must park cars in the overflow lot.

Please follow signs to the Check-in Table where you will receive your YMCA issued blue wrist-band & your volunteer lanyard.

Swimmers and Parent Volunteers:

Check-in for our team will begin promptly at 4:30pm.

First shift Concession & Set-up Volunteers need to arrive at 4:00pm.

Warms-ups:

Our Team: - 5:00pm

Volunteer Meeting: 5:30

(in front of Concessions)

Meet Starts: - 6:00pm

Concessions:

We will have a large variety of snacks & drinks, as well as several Hot Food Meal options for sale. We accept cash, card & digital payments. Come Hungry!

Heat Sheets:

Will NOT be sold at Concessions. Please print at home, find it on our website or on the Swimtopia App.

Please be sure to write your swimmer's full name & age on the back of your swimmer's right shoulder with Sharpie Marker.

***Some swimmers did not have this done at the last Meet and Bullpen had a lot of unnecessary difficulty locating our swimmers.***

Bullpen:

Both teams will have the Swimmer Bullpen & Parent Seating on the grassy area outside the entrance to the pool. Please remember to bring chairs or blankets to sit on.

Please ensure that your swimmers stay in this area until they are called to staging. There is a doorway to the pool marked "Swimmers Only" which leads to the Pool Deck Staging Area and a seperate entrance marked "Spectator Entrance."

Spectator Viewing:

Spectator seating is very limited on the pool deck bleachers. Therefore, Spectators can enter the pool deck through the doorway marked "Spectator Entrance" up to one event prior to their swimmer's event. Once the event is over, we ask that all Spectators leave the pool deck seating and return to the grassy area. This will ensure that all parents get the opportunity to see their swimmers race.

Volunteers:

Please check the Swimtopia App as some Volunteer Positions HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED for this Meet.

The ability to complete the volunteer requirement for each family, as agreed to with registration, begins with this Meet. At this point, there have been multiple opportunities to select volunteer times & positions that work best for your family, however many parents have still NOT done so. As we have said before - it takes MANY hands to run a Swim Meet. The monetary cost of Swim Team is relatively low - because the time each family must put in & the rewards gained from doing so, is very HIGH.

The Team is very lucky to have some families who do more than their required share; have multiple family members volunteer at each Meet, work multiple shifts, and/or multiple positions. If not for these families we could not have a Team or participate in Meets. So THANK YOU!!

However, this is a non-profit, volunteer-run Swim Team and as such, we are ALL responsible for making sure this Team runs smoothly - for the benefit of ALL our swimmers. It is not fair for only some families to do the brunt of the work while others do not contribute at all.

Please note that aside from being unable to run Meets without multiple volunteers, the Swimtopia System keeps track of all volunteer hours & your card will be automatically charged if your family does not complete the previously agreed-to required volunteer hours by the end of this season. Unfortunately, swimmers from those families will also be automatically restricted from registering for Swim Team in the future.

Volunteer Meeting:

We will call a Timer & Volunteer Meeting before the start of the Meet to ensure everyone is present & feels confident in their role.

As of now, the weather looks good but if we need to reschedule, our Make-Up date is:

Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 4:00pm.

We look forward to a great Meet with Maple Ridge. 🐬 Go Dolphins! 🐬

See you at the Pool!
