MEET #5: Maple Ridge vs Dacula Dolphins

This week is our fifth Swim Meet and the LAST MEET of the season until the County Championship. Swimmer’s times will be recorded and count towards County Rankings. (The top 50 swimmers in each age group, for each stroke, as well as all Relay-A teams.)

PARKING

Dolphin families must park in the neighborhood streets on one side of the street only. Please follow signs and be sure to not block driveways, cul de sacs, corners, on curbs or block hydrants. Patrols will give out tickets to those parked improperly.

SEATING

Our team is instructed to set up on the non-pavilion side of the pool. Ends must remain open. We have also been invited to set up with their families in the parking lot.

BULLPEN

Our bullpen is the grass area around the baby pool at the shallow end. Swimmers will walk down the empty side of the deck to merge and stage behind the blocks.

GATES

There are two gates - we are encouraged to use the pavilion gate rather than the front gate.

CONCESSIONS

Will be inside the pavilion: Hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, mac & cheese, pasta salad, chips, candy & drinks available for sale. Options are $2.50 - $5.00

RAIN DELAY

Families are to remain in their cars and wait for further instruction via alerts. The make-up day is Friday.

Minions for Senior Night.

PARENT/COACH RELAY

We have been invited to join their parent/coach relay. If you would like to participate, please rsvp on our website under the events tab. If we have enough parents interested, we can set up relay teams.

* 6/28 - TEAM BONDING - Ice Cream & Art Social at Dacula Pavillion - Make masterpieces on your canvas & in your sundae bowl! 7:00-9:00 pm. (PS - Happy Birthday Coach Rory!)

* 7/11 - County & State Swimmer Dinner - after practice @Dacula Pool. (limited to County & State Swimmers & their families only.)

*7/12-14 - GCSL County Championship Meet - McAuley Aquatic Center@ Georgia Tech

* 7/22 - 2024 Dacula Dolphin Swim Team Banquet - Award Ceremony @ Bogan Leisure Pool 7-10pm. All family members are welcome to swim! (no pool floats allowed - young children must remain within a parent’s reach) *PLEASE NOTE THIS DATE HAS CHANGED FROM 7/17*

*7/19-20 - GA State Parks & Rec Championship Meet in Columbus, GA

COUNTY SWIMMERS: All individual and “A” Relay Swimmers who qualify for the County Championship Meet at GA Tech on 7/12-14, will need to declare their attendance by JULY 1

If your swimmer has placed within the County Top 100 in any event, there is a chance that they will move up to qualify for the Top 50 once scratches have been made. Please expect to hear from Coach Tariq or Coach Philip for updates.

COUNTY & STATE PRACTICE: Continues 7/1-11 (excluding 7/4) from 7:00pm - 8:30pm @Dacula Pool. State Practice will switch to Collins Hill Pool for 7/15-17.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

PUPS MOVING UP: Exciting news! We have several Pups who have mastered Freestyle! While they aren’t quite ready to formally compete, the Coaches have decided to allow them to participate in tomorrow’s Meet (off record) to acknowledge their hard work & encourage them to “Keep on Swimming!” Congratulations, Lennoxi, Christian, Jackson & Norah!

BOARD OPENINGS:

Our Volunteer Board is run by Parents like you! We have several Board Positions open for the 2025 Swim Season. Please feel free to nominate yourself or someone you think would be great for a job. Voting will be open online starting June 30 and winners will be announced at the Banquet on July 22. An email with a link for voting will be sent out. Please be sure to submit your vote!

JUNIOR COACH COLLECTION:

Did you know our Junior Coaches are teen Team Swimmers who come to practice an hour and a half early every day - just to volunteer to teach our pups & assist with Pods 1 & 2. We truly could not do it without them!

We would like to show our appreciation for all their hard work & dedication to our Team. We will be sending out a link collecting donations so we can surprise them with special thank-you gifts at the banquet. Please consider contributing with helping us to show our appreciation to these wonderful teens!
